Cost: $30 for up to 3 jpeg entries; $10 for youth. Checks made out to SABR
3 categories: professional, amateur and youth (under 16). $ 30 entry fee for up to 3 entries—one picture of each for professionals and amateur and $10 for youth category.
JPEGs sent by e-mail or on CD to Dr. Leslie Heaphy to coordinate.
For sculptural works, multiple pictures in jpeg format may be entered. Otherwise, one jpeg image per entry allowed. Entries must be clearly titled and should not exceed 300 DPI. Maximum size for entries is 40" x 40" for 2D works, 60 linear inches for sculptural works. Work must not exceed a weight of 100 pds. Traditional art mediums accepted. All entries must be "by the hand of the artist." No videos or other electronically produced work, please! Artists agree that images of entries may be used as part of the marketing and promotion of the SABR-JMNL Conference and Art Competition.
The winning entry in professional and amateur categories will receive a $400 prize and a $200 prize in our youth category. The Decision of the Jurors is final. Photos of winning entries and runners up will also be included in an upcoming issue of McFarland Publishers’ Black Ball: A Negro Leagues Journal.
Winning entry in each category plus runner-up will have art displayed in a special area during the Negro League Conference in Newark, NJ this summer.
